Massage and Nails near Bến Thành Market: Prices, Tipping, and Coupons
The area around Bến Thành Market has the densest cluster of massage and nail shops. Here are the tipping and price-display rules according to Vietnam's tourism authority and Price Law, why you should show your GayoGayo coupon before paying, and two real stores.
What should I check first when choosing a massage or nail shop near Bến Thành Market?
The first thing to look for is whether a price list is posted outside. Vietnam's Price Law (the 2023 Price Law, in force since July 2024) requires businesses to display prices clearly in Vietnamese dong, inclusive of taxes and fees, and prohibits charging more than the displayed price. It is safer to avoid places with no price list or that only say "come in and we'll discuss."
The second is whether course durations and what is included are written down. Shops whose menus are organized by the minute, such as 60-minute full body, 90-minute foot plus full body, or nails plus head spa, have fewer disputes. The two stores below are on Lê Thánh Tôn street in front of Bến Thành Market, and both are GayoGayo coupon stores.

The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism advises that tipping is not mandatory in Vietnam, although it is becoming more common in some situations such as spas and with tour guides. In other words, not tipping is not rude, and you tip if you were happy with the service. There is no official benchmark for the amount. The tourism authority explains that thinking of the cost of a local meal (VND 30,000–40,000) helps gauge what a tip is worth locally.
When tipping, it is usual to hand it directly to the therapist, separately from the bill. Some shops include a service charge on the bill, so check the receipt for a "phí phục vụ" (service charge) line first so you do not pay twice.
When do I show the GayoGayo coupon?
As a rule, before paying, when you choose your course. The discount applies under conditions set by the store (course, day of the week, number of people), so it is hard to reverse once the receipt has been issued. The order is as follows.
- Get the store's coupon in the GayoGayo app in advance. Your coupon screen opens even if Wi-Fi drops.
- Show the coupon screen as you choose your course at the store. The screen also includes Vietnamese instructions for staff.
- Check the discounted amount and pay. If the discount was not applied, say so on the spot; if it is not resolved, let us know via "Report discount not applied" on the coupon screen.
Do I need a reservation?
Stores in front of Bến Thành Market get busy in the evening (8–10 pm, after dinner). For services with fixed seats and time slots, such as nails, booking ahead through the contact details on the store page saves waiting. Go by the opening hours shown on the store page, but for a late-night visit it is a good idea to confirm by phone.
